Get the actions, shots and drills you need to prepare your point guards to run the Dribble Drive Motion Offense in this insightful DVD from John Calipari! Watch as Calipari runs his 45 minute point guard workout in a live practice setting. All of the essentials are here: Drills for ball quickness, shooting, footwork and decision making skills.

Calipari cranks up the workout with intense, purpose driven warm-up drills. Each drill uses a ball and develops ball quickness and handles. These drills will have your guards moving the ball around on the dribble, protecting the ball from deflections and steals and blowing by defenders.

Moving to the heart of the work-out, Calipari breaks the remainder of the practice into three parts:

Lay-ups. Calipari presents a progression of lay-up drills that feature speed, ball handling and footwork. Each drill works on getting guards past their defenders and finishing with contact.
Shooting. These one-ball shooting drills will force your guards to make quick decisions based on what the defense gives them. Calipari incorporates lay-ups, hesitation pull up jumpers, 3-pointers from the corner, back doors, top of the key shots, and kick backs. Get your guards ready to score when the opportunity arises.
Pick-and-Roll. In this segment, Calipari focuses on a hesitation move to read the big and gain the separation needed to drive around or split defenders.

To finish the practice, Calipari has his guards play a continuous full court 1-on-1 drill that progresses into a 2-on-2 that forces players to score on the fastbreak, guard the dribble and play through the physical nature of the opponent.

This skill workout will teach your players to handle the ball with both hands, shoot the ball with both hands and develop their ball quickness. And it will provide you with coaching cues and techniques for training and developing your players. Implement this workout into your program today.

and Todd Forcier,
University of Kentucky Strength and Conditioning Coach for Basketball

To better execute the Dribble Drive Motion offense, players must "play lower and stronger." In this basketball DVD University of Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari along with UK Strength and Conditioning coach Todd Forcier, teach you the drills that develop the explosion and lateral quickness needed to drive past your defender.

The workout is divided into three phases: Legs, core and foot speed. In the weight room, Coach Forcier takes the team through a variety of exercises that focus on strengthening the legs and core. On the court, the players work on drills to improve foot speed.

Starting with the legs, Forcier takes the athletes through an 11-exercise, medicine ball circuit that develops speed and power while working on conditioning. When working with the medicine ball, Forcier emphasizes staying low, in a good defensive position, which trains the muscles for game-like conditions.

Being balanced is a critical aspect in the Dribble Drive Motion Offense. A strong core gives an athlete solid balance. Forcier demonstrates 40 exercises - from single-leg drills to a push-up series - that strengthen your players' core.

The final section is all about footwork and incorporates 14 different quick feet drills that will help build your players foot speed and quickness to cover more ground. In addition, stride drills work on lengthening a player's stride to get down the court quicker.

The drills in this DVD will push your players to the "Sweet Pain" that coach Calipari believes builds the conditioning needed to play in the Dribble Drive Motion Offense. Hit the court this season with a quick and powerful team that can run the court all game long!

What skills should I be teaching my post players to play in the dribble drive offense? How do I get my post players involved in the dribble drive? Finally, some answers!

Join University of Kentucky head coach, John Calipari, as he leads you through an extensive workout you can use with your posts to develop the skills necessary to play the Dribble Drive Motion Offense.

Coach Calipari starts off by leading his posts through ball handling drills. These drills will develop the weak hand, give a feel for the ball and give your players the confidence they need to dribble the ball with their head up.

Next, Calipari unveils 10 drills that allow you to practice the elements of spacing, soft hands and the "feel" bigs need to score near the basket.

The pick and roll gives the bigs a variety of options to score once they set a screen. Calipari concentrates on teaching proper spacing, which will give your bigs a number of options to the rim or finding a spot to score. He also shows techniques for getting open once the post defender starts cheating up to help defend the drive.

To finish the practice, Calipari leads the posts through a perimeter shooting drill and a rim-running drill that teaches post players how to establish position inside when running the floor.

Make sure your Dribble Drive Motion Offense is hitting on all cylinders with this great offering from John Calipari.

Teach your wing players to beat their defenders off the dribble and knock down the big shot.

University of Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari shows you an extensive workout you can use with your wing players to develop the skills necessary to successfully run the Dribble Drive Motion Offense. These are the same drills that have produced back-to-back top 5 NBA draft picks and the second highest scoring average in 2009.

Coach Calipari begins with a series of ball handling drills that develop a feel for the basketball. These drills concentrate on hand/eye coordination and a push-pull technique, which will give your wings a better feel for the ball. Crossover, between-the-legs and behind the back techniques will build the confidence needed to throw the ball from one hand to another and beat defenders off the ball.

Calipari emphasizes:

Lay-ups. Calipari gives you a progression of lay-up drills that concentrate on speed, moves and finishing with contact. Learn the key to protecting the basketball and see how Calipari stresses it in practice. He also demonstrates a stick-back drill that will turn your wings into strong, aggressive rebounders who turn offensive rebounds into points.

Shooting. 25 high-energy breakdown drills will give your wings a chance to work on a variety of shots (lay-ups, 3-pointers and pull-up jumpers) that occur during the natural flow of the dribble drive. Calipari also includes a 4-minute shooting drill that gets your wings ready to make the big shot at the end of the game.

To finish the practice, Calipari shows two drills to get your wings mentally prepared to take the big shot at the end of the game. The 4-minute shooting drill forces the wings to make shots under pressure from five spots on the floor in a competitive fashion. A series of one-on-one drills works on the wing's decision making - forcing him to work on beating his defender off the dribble or scoring off the catch.

This DVD is packed with drills that will allow you to take advantage of the opportunities the Dribble Drive Motion Offense will present to your wings. It will also show your players how to create their own opportunities.

These drills emphasize stopping the ball in conversion, communicating every defensive move, protecting the basket, having active hands, stopping straight line passes and splits in traps, and developing toughness on defense.

Each drill works on a specific area of defense including conversion defense, trapping and getting a stop. Horn's Fundamental Defense Drill provides an effective review of key defensive fundamentals in one drill saving you practice time.

In each drill, Horn points out the purpose of the drill, how it relates to his overall defensive philosophy and provides teaching and coaching points for easy implementation with your team.

Frustrate your opponent's top two scorers! Prevent your opponent from getting into rhythm offensively!

Former National Coach of the Year Rick Majerus unveils for the first time his philosophy on the triangle and two defense. Majerus shows you how this "disruptor defense," when used on a selective basis, can immobilize your opponent.

Majerus teaches and demonstrates the critical components of aggressive close outs and how to defend various cutters, screens and hand-offs. Majerus presents an in-depth discussion on player responsibilities as they relate to the three defensive zones utilized in this baffling defense.

He shows the "fake and fade" technique to prevent shooters from being able to "rhythm up" and get open looks at the basket. By taking away their shot, players are forced to become drivers and dribble into the triangle. To counter dribble penetration and assist with box-out responsibilities, Majerus teaches the "sliding the triangle." He also provides game clips that reinforce the various concepts of this dominating defense.

Cut off your opponent's life blood and force them to prepare for one more defense; the Triangle and Two!

Chris Mooney demonstrates a very organized practice that incorporates drills aimed at improving team passing, ball handling and shooting skills. This DVD is perfect for the coach who wants to improve their team's skill level, but has minimal time for individual player improvement drills.

Coach Mooney begins with a quick-moving warm- up that includes full- court dribble moves, lay-ups and star passing. In Mooney's unique version of the star passing drill, he emphasizes spacing, hard cuts and two-handed passes and catches as players engage in over-head, chest, and bounce passes.

Mooney leads players through pass and cut lay-ups and driving lay-ups from various challenging angles. Coach Mooney next demonstrates the three lines running drill, which demands total concentration as players pass, catch and score while sprinting up and down the court.

Continuing the skill work, Mooney incorporates two more shooting drills. Stand still 3's requires players to shoot from certain spots on the floor while stationary. Mooney sets a goal of 80 in his 2-line shooting drills, which consist of three- (1 and « minute) drills, that require three basketballs, and 2 lines of players, as shots are taken from various locations on the floor. Coach Mooney concludes this DVD with 3-on 3 and 2-on 2 drills that require players to set screens, slip screens and make reads on the defense as they are moving without the ball and communicating.

Coach Mooney is a disciple of the popular Princeton Offense, serving as a four-year starter for Hall of Fame coach Pete Carril at Princeton. These drills will help you get your players better every day with the limited practice time you have.

Ironically, this defense is responsible for the development of his popular Dribble Drive Attack Offense. Full court 2-2-1 pressure is the core of Walberg's defensive system of play. Walberg breaks down the court into quarters making it simple to understand and execute the defense. Walberg thoroughly explains and demonstrates each player's assignment and the secrets to making this defense successful. He also shows three zone options in the full court that are generated from this defense. This combination of pressure defense and the Dribble Drive Attack Offense is a proven recipe for winning basketball. After installing his entire system at Clovis West, his teams went 159-18. Throughout the practices Krzyzewski provides priceless wisdom and basketball knowledge as he coaches and teaches his players, and provides coaching points for the drills and concepts he uses.

The Blue Devils run a multitude of half- and full-court drills featuring a variety of game-like situations that build up from 2-on-0 to 5-on-0 drills into an action or set play. Get a look inside Duke's split drills where post players work on various angles for the pick-and-roll and "slips," while perimeter players work on penetrate-and-kick action and shooting on the move.

Moving to the defensive side of the ball, the Blue Devils work on various three-quarter and full-court pressure defenses and off-the-ball defenses.

Assistant Coach Steve Wojciechowski explains the importance of early communication and the point of pressure concept as he covers the "Duke Method" of defending ball screens both near the top of the key and on the wing. He demonstrates and teaches the hard show technique, switching and trap techniques in tremendous detail.

Switching to offense, the Blue Devils demonstrate various techniques in breaking 2-2-1, 1-2-2 and 1-2-1-1 full court pressure defenses. Coach K demonstrates the "quick pass" concept and the "catch and face" technique in attacking full court pressure.

Assistant Coach Chris Collins introduces Duke's elbow series, which features set plays that bring the post players above the elbow to allow for great spacing. This opens up the floor for small teams to create mismatches and provides good cutting action and movement.

Every inbounds play is an opportunity to score. With that frame of mind, Collins demonstrates Duke's "Line Series" and "Box Series" of inbounds plays.

Coach K provides you with shooting drills that simulate offensive sets to better teach those sets with game-like movement. You will see how Duke attacks the zone with the post players flashing from behind the zone, and the guards driving into gaps and catching the ball shot ready. He also directs 4- and 6-minute scrimmages where players work on game situations and decision making.

Everything is brought together with nearly 90 minutes of informative "question and answer" sessions that cover topics such as Coach K's experience with the gold medal-winning USA Olympic Basketball team, Duke's method for scouting opponents, advice for young coaches, the best way to teach shooting technique and much more.

This DVD set covers nearly every facet of building a successful basketball program the Duke Blue Devil way.

Vance Walberg's Dribble Drive offense has taken the basketball world by storm. An idea 10 years ago, this system has evolved into an offensive attack adopted by John Calipari, Larry Brown, Lawrence Frank and hundreds of coaches of all levels all over the world. Based on a unique two point guard (attackers) set, this attack is complemented by two wings and a rim-running post player. The offense features two unconventional ideas: there are no screens and the post player runs to the weak side of the floor. Both features create more space for dribble penetration. Walberg breaks down each player's movement on the floor according to ball penetration. As players react to penetration they move into drag, drop and rack zones. The goal is to create spacing and gaps and to get to the rack. Walberg also teaches middle and baseline penetration and the kick-back option that can produce open 3-point shots or open drives to the basket. In addition, Walberg goes through his "Daily 45 Drills," which he runs the first 45 minutes of each practice. These fast moving drills teach the fundamentals needed to run the Dribble Drive Attack Offense - including his famous "Blood Drills." These drills focus on shooting, passing, footwork, cutting, catching and pivoting. Walberg demonstrates every part of the Dribble Drive Attack in various 3-on-2, 2-on-1 full court breakdown drills. Throughout, he highlights the key drills and teaching points he uses to build the offense. Sports Illustrated calls Vance Walberg "the Master" of the Dribble Drive Offense and one of the top innovators in the game of basketball today. Now you can learn this fun and high scoring way to play from the inventor himself!
